The number of single-family homes sold in May 2022 in the Chicago metro area was 12,595, a drop of 41% over May 2021.

The median sale price for homes sold was $335,000 for the period from March to May 2022, up by 4.7% year over year. Last year for the same period the median price in the Chicago metro area was $320,000.

The median sale price per sqft for homes sold during the period from March to May 2022 increased by 8.1% year-over-year to $180. The median sold price per sqft for the homes sold during the period from March to May 2021 was $166.

The inventory for sale in May was 19,420, down by 8.8% over the same time last year when 21,290 homes were on the market.
